Why are replays not working when I use the Shopify mobile app to access Propel Replays?

Propel Replays works by copying website code then replaying the changes the shopper's visit made to your website code. No actual videos are recorded or played back in this process.

The Shopify mobile app uses a built-in browser called WebKit to render Propel Replays. When you view a replay, you're viewing a copy of your website in the WebKit browser.

Errors when viewing replays can occur when WebKit does not support all the HTML, CSS and JavaScript contained in your website.

To prevent this, we recommend accessing Propel Replays from a full web browser like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.

If you're using an iPhone, and the Shopify app automatically opens, you can follow these steps to disable that behavior:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap on the app that is opening automatically (e.g., Shopify, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
  3. Look for an option related to "Open Links" or "Open by Default" and turn it off.
